Job Hunting Tips

Hello All,

I just came upon some helpful tips for job hunting.

Do any of you have any other helpful job tips? If so - please share them with us.

Tips from a recruiter:

1 - If the job requires proficiency in a specific language, submit your CV
in that language. If you submit a CV in another language, more than likely
it will be automatically rejected.
2 - Proofread your CV. Regardless of the language, your CV makes an initial
impression. If you submit a CV with spelling, grammar and/or other mistakes,
you give a very poor first impression. Sounds obvious, but I was a bit
shocked to see the number of mistakes.
3 - Your cover letter is critical. I cannot tell you how many CVs I received
with no cover letter at all; just a blank email with an attached CV. This
gives the impression that you are sending your CV anywhere and everywhere,
and not taking the time or energy to apply for that particular job.
4 - However, there is also no need to rewrite your entire CV onto the cover
letter. A brief introduction, highlighting why you are uniquely qualified
for the position, is more than enough.
5 - Read the job requirements carefully. In this tough market, I received
many, many CVs from people who, although very experienced in their field,
met very few of the actual job requirements. While I understand the need to
reach and stretch for new opportunities when the market is rough, the
company posts requirements for a reason. If you are going to send a CV for a
position that is not aligned with your experience, at least support your
decision to submit your CV with some relevant, compelling selling points in
your cover letter.
6 - If the job posting provides a direct email address to submit CVs, do NOT
start communicating via Linked In or ask the prospective employer to go and
get your CV from your Linked In account. This can be perceived as an
inconvenience to the potential employer. [Izzy] - basically agree - but if you have something useful to add - that will increase your chances of landing the interview - then contact away.
7 - Do not ask about the salary before you've had at least an initial
interview. [Izzy] - I do not agree with this - why waste either parties time - if you know you are not willing to work under a certain amount?
8 - If you do get invited for an interview, be sure to bring extra copies of your CV. Do not expect the interviewer to have a copy.

• יכולת לימוד ועבודה עצמית, כמו גם עבודת צוות
• יכולת ביטוי טובה באנגלית בכתב ובע"פ
• תואר ראשון במדעי המחשב
• ידע ב-VBS - יתרון
• ניסיון בבדיקות אוטומטיות - יתרון

• Design new security features for existing systems
• Security review of proposed architectures/solutions
• Programming and code review
• Reverse engineering and analyzing other people’s code
