Animation Production Manager

Job details: The Animation Studio Production Manager will be responsible
for delivering 2D and 3D animated television commercial spots for
broadcast, a series of episodes and films, on time and on budget. The
primary role will be to create production schedules within the budgetary
parameters; ensuring projects get completed on time, following contract
agreements between studio and clients. The position involves partnering
closely with the Animation Director (or series director) in order to
assemble the crew and manage scheduling expectations. It also involves
becoming the liaison between the sales team and artists, and also
between artists and clients. The position requires the ability to work
directly with clients, troubleshoot problems, oversee productions and
actively participate in the organization and the communication of
information to the clients, the production team and senior management.
Job Duties/Responsibilities :1) Create production breakdown, schedule
and budget. Set the tone for the entire series, from storyboards to
offline editorial2) Assist Animation Director with defining basic scope
of the production to inform character/set design and script writing, and
continue to manage complexity as the shows evolve through pipeline 3)
Establish artistic staffing needs with Animation Director and provide
the hiring parameters to recruiting/HR and systems 4) Establish
organizational structure of the series including filing system,
information distribution, weekly reports, use of client site etc. 5) Act
as main point of contact for the client once the show schedule has been
approved6) Establish and maintain meeting schedule for series, ensure
clients are given ample notice and reminders regarding meetings 7)
Address extraordinary client/broadcaster notes with client or senior
management 8) Ensure technology requirements (esp. in house proprietary
tools development) are established early in production and regular
follow up occurs to ensure timely delivery 9) Attend weekly Production
Management Meetings to discuss progress and challenges of the show,
especially head count needs/changes. Also provide brief verbal
progress/update report at crew meetings every other week.
Requirements:
Technical Skills Knowledge of 3D and/or 2D animation pipeline would be
an assetHighly proficient in Excel Good proficiency in MS Project and
File Maker Pro would be an assetProficiency in editing software e.g.
premierGood Proficiency in word, scanning and resizing images Flash
animation experience would be an assetEnglish as mother tongue
Artistic Talent Possesses a knack for realistic and achievable
scheduling in order to ensure successful and timely completion of
series. Willingness to learn proprietary production tracking software,
meeting scheduling software. Interpersonal/Management Skills Strong
orientation towards team workExcellent communication skills (clear,
concise, consistent and informative)Ability to react to changes and new
challenges quickly and professionallyAbility to juggle multiple shows at
one time, at various stages of productionAbility to work closely with
Animation Director to troubleshoot staffing issues, including
performance management for poor performers
Experience Minimum of 4 years of animation coordination or minimum of 2
year series animation production management
